This was a fun project when I needed something lighter to work on. I experimented with construction and am actually quite proud of the base dress and the pattern I made for it. 

I saw this pink mesh and immediately thought of a Barbie ballerina I loved as a child, and used her as inspiration. The National Gallery of Art felt like a fun place to photograph this piece and play with scale. It was also fun to stand next to paintings of ballerinas by Degas and Renoir.
